U2's Bono and the Edge introduced the first song from their Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark Broadway musical, "Boy Falls From the Sky," on Good Morning America today. Reeve Carney, who will star as Spider-Man's alter ego Peter Parker, performed the track, which boasts a trademark Edge riff. "One of the great things about this casting is that we have Reeve, who is this amazing singer, but we've also brought in his band, so we have the sound of real authentic rock n' roll band performing at the show," the Edge said before the debut. Vulture notes that the track is similar to U2's "Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me," a song U2 penned for another superhero — it appeared on the Batman Forever soundtrack in 1995.
After being delayed for months due to "cash flow problems", Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark, reportedly the most expensive musical in Broadway history, will begin its preview performances on November 14th. (The show officially opens on December 21st.) Tickets for the performances go on sale starting tomorrow. On GMA, Bono discussed what drew U2 to the project. "I think we're interested in it because it's a really quintessential New York story, and we're all kind of wanna-be New Yorkers. It's not so serious, but this post-9/11 idea of everyone being capable of being a hero caught our imaginations," Bono said via satellite.
